These workshops are suitable for both beginner and advanced levels.
We look through different Art movements; such as Cubism, and its development into Collage, Expressionism and Abstract art.
In addition to that, we will learn how to distinguish the forms and techniques of each movement through drawing and painting, and then allowing each student to add their special touch into the artwork and guide them during the workshops to embrace their own unique method.
What’s good about imitating different Art movements when coming up with an artwork – that combines between the strong formal construction of cubism, the overlapping of collage materials, the emotional impact of expressiveness and the spontaneity of the free abstract form – during training is that it encourages the students to discover their own creative potential, boost their confidence and support their Art production by creating a common ground that helps in forming a similar language between the famous movements and their personal work so they would know later on how to evaluate their artwork, focus on their strength points, develop their weak points, and of course expand the horizons of their knowledge regarding the history of Art.
Cubism: an Art movement that reconsidered the traditional forms, by formulating them into geometric shapes and simplified color spaces, in which the artist relied on drawing the shapes in different perspectives at the same time. This turned shading and lighting into secondary features, as lines and color spaces replaced them and became the main features of composing the painting.
Collage: as cubism started getting more viral and important, collage appeared as a natural development. In this technique, artists used scraps of paper, newspapers, and canvas and pasted them on their canvas to find more abstract ways to express themselves.
Expressionism: an Art movement that targets the expression of the emotion and feelings evoked by things or events in one’s self, in which the artist twists reality to suit the situation to be expressed.
Abstract: an Art movement that breaks away from realism, by simplifying line and color. And expressing elements, components or shapes in a free way based on color relationships, and harmonies.
